Many's the hour I have spent waiting for OH to finish in a 2nd hand/charity bookshop. Where ever we go he always googles for the 2nd hand book shops. When we were moving I put a ban on buying books, Still is on until he gets round to putting up bookshelves. He has thoudands of books, A room full I do not like book shops for that resason - don't get me wrong I like a good read  but......

Always take charity stuff to shop. You can then do Gift Aid contribution forms on the goods they sell and so the charity gets more money.

then you also know where its going. I know its easier to have it collected though.

wood ash or bonfire ash can be put on crowns of delphniums, peonies, lupins and bulbs such as lilies, gladiolus, and camassias - 2 handfuls a plant it says

Just thought you may like to know especially those who burn wood.

Havng my mug of tea now. About to light fire.

Have just planted 3 of my roses and heeled in 2. Have also typed up on plant list what and where they are.

In one place nearly made a pot for you all such wet clay. OH just shouted at me because of state of shoes, well more mud than shoes. He is now chopping wood to make sure we are well stocked up for the cold.

In that old garden book I found it says December is a good time to top dress, delphniums, peaonies and something else with wood ash. Have so much of stuff will follow old garden knowledge and do so, but not now. Now is mug of tea time.

New potatoees for Christmas dinner  Never managed it before.

My nails never grow that long. Always getting broken in the garden, even with gloves.

BARE ROOT ROSES

Rose Lady

I have just had a ground cover rose 'Worcestershire' The plan is to put it in an old chimney pot so that it sprays out, The bottom is set in the ground, not sealed and I would line it with an old compost bag. Any idea if this will work?

2 crates full. We have to re-cycle ourselves NB coffee jars, soy sauce, bottles as well as the usual suspects

Just come in from tidying. Any one know if I leave my potatoes in their bag or dig them out?

What's the weather like in your area?

Lovely day after the dark grey of the last week.

Will attempt to plant some roses that have come, one the ground is still too waterlogged and one I forgot to buy the compost for, but a garden day

Also a wrap up warm day.

Morning all

Just  been out to tip: bottles, cardboard (where does it come from) rotten hanging baskets, large bag of wood shavings from log cutting. Then to a low price shop for their horse manure mix (4 bags) and some more bonemeal.

If sun stays bright may plant couple of roses, but one will have to be heeled in and one planned to put in a chimney pot but just realised I forgot the John Innes N0 2, so will have to heel that one as well.

Then will do some more tidying as some plants seem very slow at dying back.

Get well soon Becks and Jess
