Afternoon all - Late again!

Just been to local farm shop, they said the waters only went down to get access to them last week but even now can only get to them one way,

We went for local produce for a hamper for SIL - never know what to get them, The others garden so that is sooo easy. Anyway ended up with a Christmas Tree , but we have arranged to visit Cannock Chae on wednesday to buy one with the IL's.

This is a Fraser Fir, pretty, and it has roots. Farmer said put it in water for 48hours, then plant it and may take. OH has just made a comment about how he is going to get a large pot full of compost and tree into house. Der never thought of that and he was with me when bought it. Any one out there in cyberland know about trees and roots and stuff??

Dog only barked 3 times after I went to bed last night, was a sleepy bark so didn't get up to him. Hooray. He was in the hall again. Good nights sleep by all

Enjoyed dancing as well

On BBC Midlands - the weather persons name tonight was Sara Blizzard!

Like the metal sculptures Norm, Wouldn't greenhouse be heavy to hang up. I have a courtyard type patio that needs interesting pieces if you can't think what to do with it

What's the weather like in your area?

Last Christmas day was very mild. We had had a wood burner and were unsure how to lay it etc. Son came on a visit and demonstrated - it was so mild we were sitting there in T-shirts and windows open to cool down while it burnt

That's really nice Jo - Erysimum with frost. it does mean come spring you will have to go seasonal as well

Pinned dolls hair on with safety pin, son comes in and says 'you can't give a baby that it's got a pin in it' (sigh)

so much encouragement

Put mini greenhouse in big one  Raised tender plants up on veg crates bought earlier. Put out a blackbird food tray raised up and  covered with old hanging basket to prevent wood pigeons - was that your idea as well Jo?- weighted  chains with bricks in case wind gets up. OH is out chopping wood, fire is laid. Wrapped some bubble wrap was around a pressie from Amazon yesterday (recycling) around pot with a hardy fuschia in and draped fleece over it in case this severe weather come.

Now to have another go at the dolls.

Oh and Flo how's chicken?

Lovely sunny day.and not too cold

Ok - Put up mini greenhouse (found out its called a pot greenhouse) inside big greenhouse and put more tender plants in it raised up on some veg trays bought earlier. Have told OH he has to have soup tomorrow for lunch so that I have a tin to put a candle in. Have candles -they are chunky and were in the little bit of sun we had in the summer and melted and are misshapen so will use those for heat source only on coldest of days(nights). Feel well satisfied with that - now will just have to wait and see if it works

I think Jo you are really a mine of good sound economical gardening advice  Pat on the back
