hardwood cuttings

Posted: 12/11/2012 at 11:18

Just come in after taking cuttings from my mysterious shrub. Have put 5 in a long pot, think it had a rose in it, and followed all instructions, made a compost mix of, JI3, pot compost and grit. Have dated pot, and as I do not have a cold frame (must put it on one of my Christmas lists!) have popped it in far corner of my unheated greenhouse, just have to remember to water it occassionally.

Current plan is to plant pot put in spring

Reading posts again I think a gravel tray for pot would be an idea. Am I right?

 Morning All

Last night settled down to catch up on University Challenge and Only Connect before this evening. Woke up with The History of the World which I find very boring but OH likes it so went to sleep again.

Can't get going this morning

Dog came back from walk very wet and full of bounce, Is now in isolation in kitchen as his large hairy feet will take hours to dry even after rub down

Absolutely paining here. Fits the mood!

For those who never know what to do with red cabbage

NB we use apple rather than cranberries unless we are being festive

only one of my attempts grew! Am buying different seed next year. OH has a wonderful way with the cabbage, spicy, tasty, not sloppy I will ask him when he comes out of the bath

Have decided to make a sauce out of some apple chutney and a dash of wine. Made the chutney couple of years ago, very spicy

Never really thought of them as 'ankle-biters'

Dinner cooking. Gammon in wine, just a winegalss full prefer to drink it! - was going to be a can of cider but son drank it!! Think I will make a sauce out of some HM apple chutney and a bit more wine.

More leaves mowed up today, they look so lovely in a raked pile, especially the prunus ones coming over from next door.

I saw Secret State - Found it  chilling - like House of Cards. - compelling but not quite sure if I really want to know.

OH done some research and bug found the other day (picture posted) was a Great Green Cricket what it was doing inside my washing line cover?? today when I put line up I was very careful.

Just done some mud pies - well clearing some weeds to help bulbs planted last year - so wet where they are, am not sure if any have survived the summer. Did find a couple of snowdrop and a tulip (miniature) but nothing else. Put a layer of compost on the top. Fingers crossed.

I used to have a white board - no chalk
