Growing under holly

Posted: 28/10/2012 at 10:08

In old house we had a very large holly.

I lifted the crown by removing the lower branches. It ended up looking like a tree. Then I tried all sorts of undercover.

In the end the most successful was cyclamen and I plalnted up about 8 erysinum (perrennial wallflower) Bowles variety and as they tolerate poor soils etc. They didn't die and gave easy to keep interest all year.

I grew them from own cuttings as they take very easily and don't take long to establish once planted out

You've all been very busy on here tonight. and I've only knitted 2 rows - very slow knitter!!

I agree with Lottie, it reminds me of my 3 as well. and the strange conversations we used to have, all going off at a tangent at the same time.  perhaps thats why i enjoy Forkers.

Trying to cook banana cake. New recipe and taking far longer than directions said. Did throw in a handful of blueberries that were out ofdate as well. So we may have pudding.
