Allotment Wars- BBC1 Tuesday 22nd January

Posted: 20/01/2013 at 11:37

The only good thing about snow is that my allotment looks the same as everyone elses. We all get on quite well.......apart from the lady that is hardly ever there and lets all the weeds take over, we do have a moan about her. The local council wants to give up overseeing all the sites so we are looking at self management. Should be interesting

Has anyone got any snow yet?

Still snowing and its supposed to get worse. Here on the south coast we rarely get any snow but that is the exception this year. Its nice to be in the warm and watch it out the window.

Darren, i know the feeling well. I got knocked off my bike last year by another cyclist to say it hurts is an understatement. Hope you are feeling better soon.We have light snow at the moment but the forcast is for more. A few years ago i bought things with studs in to go over your wellies, marvellous invension. Managed to walk to local shop without slipping. Last thing i need to do is to fall over with my dodgy back.Keep warm fellow forkers

Bright sunny and v v v cold. The plan for this week was to go to Gun Wharf quays in Portsmouth but the forcast is not good so will stay in the warm at home.

Just looked at the front room windows talk about filthy so guess what my job is this afternoon.

Just had yet another roofing chap to look at roof and chimney. I think maybe for the very first time we will be claiming on house insurance. Its just getting worse and worse. Who do you believe,? Which strange man is telling the truth? On a lighter note my ladder climbing into the roof is getting better.

Just looked on the trading standards web site and found 3 . Im usually here on my own so i need to feel safe with these strange men around. Im not saying all men are strange, just the ones you need to do work on your home.

Whats your plans for the garden this year?

Posted: 11/01/2013 at 14:18

Hoping to not have any gaps but with 3 cats that like digging im fighting a losing battle. Need to keep up with the watering in the greenhouse. I also want to cahange things in the front garden, i hate mowing the lawn so will dig some bigger flower beds. All this depends on whether my back is ok if not i will sit and watch the butterflies

Runner beans do well then i will aiso grow french beans, peas, sweet corn, butternut squash, courgettes, tomatoes, chillies and cucumbers( the last 3 i will grow in the greenhouse). On the allotment i have asparagus, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries, apple trees , currents and rhubarb. The 5 a day you are supposed to eat are so much nicer in the summer. oh and lettuce.
