Is it Ok to keep picking rhubarb

Posted: 25/09/2012 at 11:19

I just have 2 plants and they seem to provide enough for my family and friends. Not a lot of space at allotment as i always want to grow so many other things

old compost

I have taken all used compost down to my allotment hopefully it will help the soil down there as it is rather clayey ( is that a word?) Before i have always put it on the garden and it doent seem to have made the borders any deeper.

What's the weather like in your area?

Im already fed up with the rain, i do now have tumbledryer so that makes life a lot easier and the house doesnt look like a laundry. My mum always washes the car when it rains so she doent have to worry about rinsing the soap off as the rain does it for her. And people say im daft.

Hi Darren I got my first greenhouse this year so still on a learning curve there. I grew lots of tomatoes chillies and cucumbers and they all did really well. I have 2 books which im always referring to The Allotment book by Andi Clevely and Food from your allotment fron Readers Digest. Broad beans can be sown now and you may find some brassicas at a garden centre to start you off. Give your greenhouse a good clean out as you dont know what pests are lurking. Read up over the winter and decide what you want to grow.

Rain just read about your pusscat. Im so very sorry to hear that you had lost her. It doesnt get any easier, i lost my cat about 3 years ago. Crumble was 18 and i still miss him, he is buried in the garden and i talk to him everyday. I now have 3 cats that keep me on my toes all of them are delinquents and i love them to bits. not one of them is a lap cay but i hope with age at least one of them will become one. Back to the weather poured with rain yesterday and as i was walking down the road a car went rather fast through a huge puddle needless to say i got soaked i was not impressed. Very windy today and rain of course. Going to pub at lunchtime with a friend its only down the road so hopefully i wont get too wet today
