Has anyone used the new xhose and what do you think of it? I Need a new hose and wondered if all the hype about this one is true. I like the idea that it crinkles back so small as i dont like to leave the hose out as im a great one for tripping over things

My daughter is doing really well with her degree, she is at home enjoying the sunshine, each day she has met up with friends and gone swimming at the beach. I avoid the beach as the state my back is in i cant walk on the pebbles. This is the first year i have felt so bad in the heat so i hide indoors in the day and been out gardening at 8.30 in the evening, its quite nice at that time.

I have 6 waterbutts at home,im not yet on a water meter so no idea how much it will save. All the butts are empty now but i do try and save rainwater for the blueberries that i grow in big pots. Only problem i have had so far is the tap gatting blocked so when they are empty i give them all a good clean. You then need someonr with a log arm who can hold the tap steady on the inside whilst you screw it in from the outside. Definately a 2 person job. Each year i think where can i put another one.

My mums dog had a habit of turning the taps on and when you got out there all the water had gone. Never could stop her. Good luck

Strawberries in the greenhouse?

Posted: 17/07/2013 at 12:34

My strawberriies have been out in all weathers at the allotment and whilst ive not had a bumper crop the ones i did pick were gorgeous , so much nicer than shop bought. I also have somr in baskeys against a west facing wall at home and they have been just as good. I guess its what suits you best. Raspberries are ripening now and think i may have eaten too many of them.

Seem tobe spending my life watering in the greenhouse but if i want nice tomatoes, cucumbers and chillies its what i have to do. I am enjoying the nice weather though. Very nice not to be in too much pain.Have been into town today as the market was there and bought a nice lot of fruit and veg for £8. Cant wait until all my home grown stuff is ready.

Using my husbands laptop and i think they have put all the alphabet keys in the wrong places, either thal or im going batty.

Daughter got home last night , has been away for a week so i guess its washing for me and the never ending task of watering. Went to allotment yesterday and as a load of manure had been delivered spent some time wheelbarrowing loads on to my plot.Picked more strawberries, taste so much better than shop bought. Maybe i will sit in the garden this afternoon and do some knitting. A friend of mine has just had her 13th grandchild born.
