Wis ley was brilliant Kate 1123, Very very hot and managed to burn through copious amounts of suncream. Met my friend who is in a wheelchair so didnt manage to get all the way round as pushing the chair was quite hard going and i now have a swollen knee to prove it. Sorry i havent replied sooner but i cant remember what i did yesterday apart from going to Drs and that was in the morning. Still catching up on the washing as my daughter went to Bestival on the Isle of Wight at the weekend, at least it wasnt covered in mud as it was the last time she went to a festival

Sowing Winter Onions

Keep with the crop rotation otherwise you will deplete the soil of certain nutrients and encourage particular pests. Dig over new patch, lightly manure and rake so the soil is quite fine. I have always planted in November as i was told the onion would make too much top growth.

Get Rid of your Lawns

Im forever digging up the lawn as i need extra space for plants and i really dont like mowing it. Will have to wait until we've had some rain as the groung is rock hard. We have a large driveway at the front of the house and 1 very small car. Im slowly getting pants in big containers to use up the space.

Sowing Winter Onions

I plant my winter onions out in November have been told by the old boys at the allotment that is the right time to plant. I then hang old cds on string to put off the birds. So far so good and i always have been quite successful.

Help me identify this flower

Could be a Nerine. Mum has some in her garden and they are very similar. Did it grow from a bulb?

moving blackcurrant bush

I moved 4 currant bushes back in the spring and they havent done well at all, so i'm hoping they will be better next year. I dug a big hole and tried not to disturb the roots too much and made sure they had plenty of water but had no fruit at all. Will give them a prune and im keeping my fingers crossed.

Im a strictly addict and very glad Darcy will be a judge. Anyone watch Paul O'grady last night? Find staying awake after 9 oclock rather hard so dont really watch anything too late i knoe i miss alot but then i would fall asleep and not know whats going on anyway. Really hoping  i can stay awake long enough to watch Downton on Sunday.

What's the weather like in your area?

Posted: 11/09/2012 at 09:52

Almost fighting fit but off to the Drs to make sure. Had a fantastic day at Wisley there was a flower show on so ended up buying a few more bulbs and dare i say it christmas presents.I also bought a enviromentally friendly slug pellets. They are made from sheeps wool and so far so goog hostas are already looking better. Have been told we can go back in the sea as the powers that be have said its now safe dont think i will be doing it or eating any fish caught off the coast. Another sunny day and not quite so hot so working in the garden is easier. Think rain is expected this evening so no watering .

What a strange season

I have so many runner beans i dont know what to do with them all.Already have a freezer full and pass them onto the rest of the family. Reckon i will look like one before the season is out. Courgettes are pretty slow and dug up the butternut squash as there was no way they would grow and ripen. Theres always next year which will come along with its own set of problems i expect.
