Compost Problems

Just found a really good tomato plant at the back of the border another surprise from the compost bin. Its amazing what you find when you turn out the heap. Last time a found a vegetable peeler and four teaspoons i wondered where they had gone.

What's the weather like in your area?

Went for a picnic yesterday near Bignor. Absolutely lovely away from traffic. Today im helping out at the allotment show. Im probably on the cake stall which is not a good move as im on a diet. The sun is shining and there is a gentle breeze and all is well in my world

T&M offer July Lavender

I bought the lavenders last year and they are beautiful. Lost one over the winter but the rest are doing fine the bees love them. Now waiting for the penstemons.

Compost Problems

I use the conmpost as a conditioner around the garden. Have had a few surprises along the way strange plants popping up. Always try to be careful what goes into the compst bin but there is always a few mishaps. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Bean confession

Oh yes ive done the same. Got the labels mixed up between the french and borlotti beans. Runner beans are plentiful and have already blanched and frozen some. Thought i had been so good this year labelling seed trays as i went, obviously not. Oh well it makes for an interesting life.

Keeping Cats and Wildlife apart?

Another mouse in last night , not sure where it has gone as there is no left overs for me to clear up.The cats latest game is bring them in and let them go, much more fun to chase them around in the middle of the night.

What's the weather like in your area?

Wonderful weekend weather wise got plenty done including cutting my foot and colliding with a lump of concrete so now have large graze on my leg. Of course its raining today, went into town as we have a market on wednesdays. The fruit and veg is really good, so everything i cant grow i get there. Think its supposed to brighton up this afternoon so maybe i will get some gardening done later.

Tomato

The huge italien was a beefsteak tom. Have had many odd shapes this year but putting it down to the weather and pollinating insects not liking the rain. The rest of the toms taste wonderful so we are making the most of them. Think the greenhouse has really helped this year

Tomato

Everyone i know has had problems with their tomatoes. Mine are hopeless in the garden and allotment but in the greenhouse they are brilliant. Have grown brandy wine and a huge italian one cant remember the name. We weighed one the other day and it was 1lb in weight. Think we will end up looking like them we have eaten so many.
