Talkback: Growing Verbena bonariensis from seed

Posted: 16/05/2012 at 12:05

I love this verbena ahd some seeds and they are now grown into lovely plants. So lovely the slugs are eating them. I cut the bottom out of plastic flower pot and put it on the soil around the plant then put slug pellets inside. The cats cant get to them that way and any slug or snail that cereeps in and dies doesnt get eaten by the birds. Well thats the theory anyway it seems to work

I made do with those plastic covered greenhouses for years but after watching fly around the garden for the umpteenth time losing all my seedlings my husband bought me a proper one. Seeds have got off to a good start and plenty of room for growbags and pots, planning on growing tomatoes, cucumbers and chillies.

Choosing a greenhouse

Posted: 11/05/2012 at 20:33

I bought a greenhouse last year from the greenhouse people, they advertise in the Gardeners World mag. They were really helpful. My first growing season and i really wish i had bought one before. At the moment its full of plants waiting to go to the allotment. I plan to grow tomatoes, cucumbers and chillis in it. Its been a bit of a learning curve and i hope to learn from my mistakes.
