Building a Greenhouse

Posted: 17/01/2014 at 20:01

I've just bought a second hand 8'x4' greenhouse which I am just about to start building. Does anyone have any ideas on how to build a cheap but strong base for it, please? Many Thanks

Dahlias

Hello,

I have been growing some Dahlias (I'm not sure of their type) in a pot over summer, but now winter is on it's way I'm not too sure what to do with them. I know I've got to store them somehow. Can anyone help me to keep them overwinter? Also, what do I do to propagate them, if I can?

Any help would be appreciated.

Propagating Alpines

Hello,

I am a 14 year old boy and a keen gardener. I have recently started a small collection of Alpine plants one of which is Sempervivum ( a House Leek). I would like to propagate this plant so that I can make a small display with lots in, can anyone tell me how it is propagated?

Poppies

I grow calafornian poppies in a flower bed, I planted some there a few years ago and every year I let them die down so that they will drop their seeds naturaly. If you want to grow them in another position you could collect the seed heads and dry them out in a brown paper envelope; then sow them again next year.

Thanks for the advice.

What about peaches, are they hard to grow?

I am undecided wether to plant a fruit tree in my back garden, can anyone tell me some heavy croping fruit trees that don't take up too much space?

Also how do you grow a successful fruit tree?

(I am 14 years old and keen to learn, so any advice would be greatly appreciated).

I started composting in  February this year and so far i have got nothing but a bad smell. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process without using chemicals?
