Wow! Thanks guys, knew I could rely on you. I have no idea where this came from but I did get a lot of random plants last year from allotment sales and Freecycle. It must've been in one of the pots. How exciting! It says on a website that the smell only lasts for a day but I fear I'm going to miss it, I'm going on holiday soon!
Thanks again, Mel

Ha ha, no, I live in Sheffield, UK! I only have a concrete yard out back so all my plants are in pots. This weird plant does look like something that doesn't belong here though!

Hello all, anyone any idea as to what plant this weird thing is please?

It grew like wildfire out of a pot in my yard this Spring like a huge mottled spike. It almost reminded me of reptile skin. These weird leaves unfurled from the spike and it now has what looks like the start of a huge flower, another foot long spike with a purpley, frilly edge along the length. It looks set to unfurl anytime but conitnues to grow.

I've never seen anything like it and have no idea where it's come from. The excitement of what this flower is going to look like is killing me!

If someone can ID this I would be very grateful. The plant is currently about 2-3 feet in height.

Many thanks,

Hello folks, hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous sunny weather. I was about to post a plant ID from my mobile but don't seem to be able to find anywhere to attach a pic. I know it works from my PC. Any ideas? Thanks, Mel

Just wondering, do you know if it'll be alright in the garden all winter or does it need protecting from the frost? Thanks.

Hi all,

Been a while since I've been on here, hope you're all well.

I've just bought a plant from an allotment sale which I've totally fallen in love with,

but have no idea what it is.

I'm sure there's someone on here who does though....thanks in advance!

Saw this plant, the one with long, drooping stalks and conical-shaped pink flowers in the botanical gardens near me. It's sooo pretty, would love to know what it was.

Anyone got a coveted plant they wold love to have but don't/can't?
