David Austin Roses, are they worth it?

Posted: 20/02/2016 at 15:34

Could someone please give me some tips on how to look after roses? I have a few DA's and others including patio's but I never get many flowers on any of them, (some none at all)   I love them but can't seem to grow them despite my efforts, yet people that just 'let them get on with it' get better results than me.  I have chalky soil is that a bad thing?

PS. I noticed the recent thread about 'unions' and mine are above the soil. Is this a problem? Sorry for so many questions.

Moving a Cistus

Thanks for replies, Dove, It is approx' half a metre high x 1 metre wide. I think it was only planted 2/3 years ago. It is a white one situated at the front of the house and does so much better than my pink ones in the rear garden. I only want to move it because my neighbours get more benefit from it than I do !

Sorry to jump in Newbee3 but I too would like to own a Viburnum but was worried about V. beetle (my neighbour's bush gets it really bad every year! )  Is there any way of avoiding this please?

Just been looking at a product called Greentyre, apparently it is a solid tyre so never punctures! anyone got one of these? if so, how do you rate it?

Flowering and scenting your garden now

I personally don't have a lot going on at the moment but I have seen some lovely Hebes still flowering in other peoples gardens. Wondered if anybody might know what variaties flowered at this time of year or is it just because it has been quite mild?
