I'm giving some Pikan F1 variety a try this year their not alpine but are small hanging basket varieties as I only have a wrought iron balcony to grow from. I always use potting compost with a slow release feed and then move on to liquid tomato feed for the fruits. replacing the soil after 3/4 years to give static plants a boost. I already have the seedlings in my propagater as it recommends planting the seeds for this variety early indoors. looking strong and healthy!  Anyone got any tips to discourage birds? I've been feeding them all winter as there's not much planting to do but think I might have caused myself a problem in encouraging them :S

What Climber to have for a shaded area?

I recommend Star Jasmine or Trachelospermum jasminoides it smells amazing especially on a summer evening and the flowers spray out. When it comes to clematis I always used to go for Indigo blues or deep violets for something a bit different.

I live in an apartment and don't have time to keep an allotment I am trying to create a window ledge garden this year and my partner and I both love Rocket in our salads will it be okay indoors I have seen many articles recommending you get it started indoors and then move it outdoors but no indoors kits like you get for herbs and lettuce. Any body know if it does grow okay indoors and other top tips for success would be much appreciated.
