Anyone have a garden blackbird?

Posted: 03/03/2014 at 12:58

We have a pair of quite tame blackbirds that seem to live in the garden.  We also get a lot of other blackbirds that visit the garden resulting in many, many fights!

They both sit around the garden while I am out looking at whats going on.

They also tend to sit on the doorstep waiting for some sultanas on a morning.

Cheers Edd, even more food for thought.

Edd, that is pretty much my idea, thinking of decent sized ones with say a small bird bath feature on top, of course I will be making them!

Nice one, I am going to go for it, getting some pipe this weekend and I will get it set up.

I adopted the same idea in two of my beds, it looks good pretty much all year round now.

Yesterday I read an article about worm towers being built into container gardens.

http://www.ecofilms.com.au/how-to-build-a-worm-tower/

I am thinking it could be a good idea to put a couple in some beds or boarders in the garden, maybe make a feature out of them in some design.  Has anyone tried this?  Would it actually be beneficial?

Bargain I picked up this time last year, 2 sedums for 25p each, both looked dead (or on their way out), I could see some green coming through at the bas of the plants so I took a punt.  absolutely huge plants loads of flowers.  complete steal!

Has anyone else ever had plants turn up planted in their garden that they were thinking of getting?

Was thinking of growing some comfrey,  it appears.

Thinking of planting a clematis in my hedge, there it appears pretty much right where I wanted it.
