Fork Handles

Hi Jean! I'm also a newbie to the forums, and gardening as well, but unlike yourself, I AM a cyber stalker, and always follow this lots' conversation on this thread as they all make me laugh, which is great. The silliness is good. I've rarely got anything worthwhile to add though, so keep quite most the time.

But at least you overcome your shyness by posting!

My new project. Where do I start!

LOL Dan, I'm exactly the same. I'm going to be here years, but seem to want it all done NOW! And with no help, except a 3 year old trying to supervise me, it just aint gonna happen! But I haven't got the huge land you have! Exciting!

I saw your Mower Hotel! Very Cool, and great use of wood. I eye up everything at the moment, wherever I am, seeing what I can re-use in the garden. I am currently splitting/ripping apart two single mattresses, to get to the metal framework inside, to see if I can use it for climbing plants! The neighbours think I'm potty! They are right!!!

Was it a derelict house when you bought it Dan, or just neglected by previous owner?

Hi Hollie- Hock!

Yes, it is nice to see the changes and think 'I did that on my own!' Although, when I started lifting slabs I wondered 'What on earth was I thinking!' LOL They were heavy! But I love sitting out there now, watching Jess play, and planning my next move. I've sown some of my free Hollyhock seeds yesterday into individual pots. Not sure where I'm going to put them yet. Just got to wait for my wire for the post next week, and my garden sieve to sort all that soil in the beds.

LOL muddy feet. I don't know, but what are you going to do with it if it is rare? It will have to be eaten at some point surely.

best seed potatoes to grow

Posted: 25/07/2012 at 20:41

Hey, no worries. Isn't that what it's all about. Sharing!

Well, if anyone else wants them, send me a PM by the weekend, or I'll find a space for them somewhere. Shame to waste them. The ones I planted are showing new growth through already, so although they looked worse for wear, they are very much alive!!

Leggi, no need to send me anything, really, but I'll PM my details, as I do love surprises!

Let me know anybody, if you want the 4 spare seed potatoes (1st earlies).

B&Q M.Purpose Compost Issues.

Posted: 25/07/2012 at 14:44

Well, this is my first year gardening, but from the word go I have used Durstons Multi-Purpose Compost and it has never let me down yet. I've had excellent germination with everything, and it's great in the containers I have. On the bag it says can be used for sowing, planting, tubs and hanging baskets. It also has added 'Growboost' mixed in with it. I can't see me changing from using this as it is great for my purposes. I also recently bought one of their growbags when I re-potted my toms. All seems ok so far.
