Hello Forkers - May Edition

Posted: 21/05/2017 at 17:38

Hi all. Just don't know where to start with all the overgrown / merged into one / tapestry effect ! Plants competing for space and attention - just rewards for my greed now coming into play! oops! Must remember that plants need room and not to buy too many. one peony removed. Huechera vastly reduced. Blinkin montbretia eradicated (as far as pos!). But some lovely flowers coming through as well. . Have ordered one of those flame weed killers Monty uses for the paths!!! Can't wait!

Thank you, I've got my 'one in 3' and 'a third' mixed up haven't I?   Will do better for next year!

taming a philadelphus

Ok, it'll not be long before it's beautiful and in full flower so I ll not do anything until after its finished.

However this year I need to do more than just the usual taking a third off the flowering shoots!

I don't mind it getting a bit taller, it's the untidy bits coveri the other plants I need to tackle.

Please advise me! Thanks.

photo hopefully to follow...

Thanks for advice and link. So, we have a variety - 3 in a compost bag, 3 in an 18" trench and an unknown amount buried in unknown area. All in a mega frenzy, no preparation etc, its sons way or no way. Fingers crossed for a harvest in 90 days!

Started a patch for son, got great ideas from another thread.Replaced Bowles mauve. Now Ive burnt the meatballs typing on here!

Had a trip to Aldi for a replacement - came home with an Aquileia Yellow - well that's what the label said! It is in fact just what I wanted - a Bowles mauve!!! All the plants were labelled incorrectly, ooops!
