I have a new black composite decking area that needs plants.
I want to make a seating area with a Japanese theme, feel, ambiance.
Full sun morning, shade as day goes on.
Size - 255cm x 220cm.
Theres a wall behind clad with an old bamboo roll (prefer to keep) 180cm high, this then gets swamped in next doors ivy (which is sort of ok).
A bistro style table and chairs fill the space nicely but will need to repaint or buy new (budgets blown already though)!
Existing plants I want to use -
- Acer palmatum purpureum 140cm tall, not doing great in 35cm pot. Ive seen lots of acers looking terrific in small pots so advice here would be great.
- Acer from Aldi called 'Butterfly?' 65cm tall, doing well in ground.
- Hosta x2 in quite nice round green pots (on theme).
Existing plants I 'could' use-
-various clematis, pieris, lillies, grasses, harts tongue fern, other common fern, I dont have an azaelia but have medium size rhododendroms.
I'd like fragrance too and will use my zaluzianskya.
All will need to be happy in pots/planters. They could possibly built in but I think I prefer moveable ones.
Feeling excited and looking forward to your advice and comments. Thanks.
