I've spent 20 years trying to get rid of moles from my garden and although successfully sometimes they always come back.  I now believe the only sure fire way is to MOVE

If they got wet during bright sun it may be scorching.  You need to be very careful with watering in sunlight

Sounds like you have been hit by Cabbage White butterfly caterpillars.  Swedes are part of the same family as sprouts so these caterpillars would go for both.  The swedes may grow some new leaves so leave them in the ground for a while longer but check regularly for the dreaded caterpillers.

Looks like  Sloe Bugs to me, members of the shield bug family.  My book states they feed on 'Sloes and other berries' so could be a problem on raspberries

Try giving it a feed, I use tomato food on  mine.  They are very hungry plants and protect from the dreaded slugs.

Where have all the ladybirds gone?

I have spotted my first ladybird larva today, feasting nicely on the blackfly.  Maybe the ladybirds are as confused about the weather/season as we are.

He used reinforcing bar available from builders merchants and possibly somewhere like B&Q.  I remember thinking that it would take some strength to bend it but it does come in a variety of diameters so maybe the smaller ones would bend.  Have you checked out the BBC GW website as they may have a video clip in their 'How to' section.
