Lottie, vine weevils love dahlia tubers in my garden.  I always wash off all soil before I overwinter them because they lurk right in the middle of the tuber.

Does anyone know what this plant is?

This plant is rapidly taking over, growing in the borders, cracks in paving and pots.  Does anyone know what it is?  I wondered if it was a form of campanula.  It climbs and trails.  The photo makes the flowers look blue but they are more purple.

Mystery plants

I remove about a third of the stems each spring from my Leycesteria and cut back the remaining stems by about a third.  This keeps it a manageable size.  I haven't had any problems with it self seeding.

This year I'm experimenting, I am cutting off the first seed heads to see if any new buds appear.  I will leave some heads on later to ensure that I get some seed.

My 19+ year old vine appears to be dying.  It started growing as usual in the spring but now all the leaves are pale and drooping.  I can't believe that given the weather we are having that it suffering from a shortage of water and the plant has been fed as usual.  Does anyone know what the problem might be.

The snails in my garden seem to have added Cosmos to their list of edibles.  Much collecting and crunching taking place here

If it is not back until July 20 then we will not be getting any coverage of the Hampton Court show which is next week.  Seems unusual.

why is my pond brown and not clear

From my experience you will never have truly clear water if you have Koi, they distrub the bottom all the time and your pumps them distribute the particles throughout.  One positive is that your brown water hides your fish from passing herons.
