Living with Ground Elder

I have managed to get on top of this horrid plant by a mix of digging it out and Roundup weedkiller.  It still pops up every so often but now can quickly be dealt with

how do I add someone to my ignore list?

You need to go to a  post that they have made and put your cursor over the picture next to their name.  A box appears giving you the option to send them a message or to ignore them.  Click on ignore.

Roundup should be able to kill this off, not sure if it is available in France.  You need a weed killer containing Glyphosate which will be taken up by the plants and kill the roots.  It only works when the plant is actively growing and may take a couple of goes if the foliage is dense.  I would try cutting down all the foliage and then in spring next year gong over the new growth of weed killer.

Tomato Ripening

The ripening banana gives of ethylene gas which helps the tomato to ripen so not sure that just the skin would have the same effect

I have put a ripe banana on the growbag my tomatoes are growing in and they have now started to ripen.  Worth giving it a try.

Why not try out both ways?  Use the ones that have bolted for freezing as they won't keep so well and dry the others off.

Veg to sow now

Some of these are quick growers so you could get another harvest this year.  I have just sown my third batch of beetroot and will probably harvest them towards late October, depends on the weather.

potato sack compost

You shouldn't use it for potatoes again to avoid disease buildup.  What I do is refill the bags with soil from my veg plot and  put the used compost there to replace what I have just taken.  I add chicken manure to improve the fertility.
