Possibly if it has pinkish white flowers with what looks like small red berries forming behind the flowers but I am not sure if they are berries or nor. Thank you.

Thank you. I have seen this shrub a few times now particularly used as a low hedge overlooking a garden wall.
Would anyone be so kind as to tell me the name of the prickly shrub which has hawthorn like small white flowers in May?
