Help. Not sleeping.

Posted: 23/08/2014 at 21:53

As for the mobile phone...please keep it at least 3-4 metres away from your head when sleeping as the wavelengths it transmits on interfere with our brainwave patterns. Read this recently and have relocated mine. Apart from that nurses advised me when I had a period of insomnia to follow a bedtime routine you would give to a baby...milky drink ( contains triptophan to aid sleep naturally) and a warm bath. Am sure listening out for the phone knowing other half is on the road probably increases worry and doesnt help...not sure what you can do about that one !!

Small evergreen shrubs/ small plants

I would say the twiggier the stems the hardier the plant so think your evergreens would be tough enough to plant out now...just remember to water when you plant and crry on each time they dry out. If it was me I would hold on with the lupins...would pot them on and keep them under cover or if you have no cover keep them near te wall of the house for a bit of shelter and if possible bring in if frost is forecast. I think the measurements are 50cm width by 1m height ( usually taller than wide). Hope this helps a bit

The Beechgove Garden

Yes Ive enjoyed it how it was...have been watching on iPlayer. Its going to have Chris Beardshaw isnt it alongside the existing Scottish presenters which is good cos I was worried they would try and elbow the existing team aside...thank goodness not ! Hopefully this means a bit more continuity as it starts its first season nationwide Its got to be good, giving us more gardening programmes and more choice nationwide has got to be good

Front garden very uninteresting

Posted: 19/03/2013 at 21:03

Yes front gardens are tricky arent they. I'm wrestling with mine at the moment too. Can recommend a quince Chaenomeles Crimson and Gold will give you great red flowers and fruit interest too. I like orange with red so would put Crocosmia Emily Mackenzie in there too...but if your prefer sticking to mostly red go for Crocosmia Lucifer. I like red orange and purple for a hot border look but youve already got pink in there so maybe purple pink and red maybe with blue. Anyway all the best with it...te climber sounds fab  - give those pesky pipes some coverage
