Summer's ending

Apart from two short downpours during thunderstorms we have had no rain here in Czech Republic for the past eight weeks. Yesterday however we had beautiful gentle rain all day but looking at the earth this morning it looks as dry as ever. As we have no mains water here and pump all our water from a well in the garden at least I can today do some washing and use the water collected in the butts to water the vegetables in the green house. Some of the wet stuff you have had in England over the past months would be rearly appreciated here, I have lived and gardened here for three seasons and do miss the english weather.

I live in Czech Republic. The tempreture here has not gone above freezing since the second week of December and we still have over a meter of frozen snow. Any chance of me growing Hellebores here. I am english and have yet to get used to the difference in seasons.

Talkback: How to grow winter onions

I was very interested in the video regarding growing Japanese onions. I now live in Czech Republic where the winters are much colder than in England, -17c to -24c. I will give the onions a go and let you know if they come through unscathed. Thank you so much for the gardeners world each week there is nothing to compare with it in this country.
