spirea variety

Hello folks

Can anyone help me with the proper name of the Spirea shrub which, I believe,  is generally called 'wedding bouquet' (or something like that)?  It flowers with long, arching white flowers in the spring.  Many thanks for replies

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know how I would go about propagating a callistemon please.  My neighbour has a lovely specimen and said I can have a cutting,  I've searched everywhere but can't seem to find any info on the subject!  Replies very much appreciated.  Thanks

Many thanks for all your replies.  I'm feeling a bit more confident now about the survival of my cuttings after reading them.  I love blackcurrants and would really like a few more bushes.  So, hopefully I will by this time next year.

blackcurrant propogation

Hello one and all

I've just gathered all my ripened blackcurrants for freezing and have planted some of the hardwood stem cuttings, hoping to increase my stock of shrubs.  I know it should really be done later in the year, but will they take root?  What do you more knowledgeable folks think?  Replies appreciated.  Thanks

I've grown a couple of the yellow variety from seed.  I planted the seeds in pots in 2012 - and only now have plants a couple of feet tall!  You obviously have to be really patient if growing from seed.  Good luck!

Hiya Folks!

I have made this request before, but had little response.  Has anyone got any advice (or experience), regarding growing fatsia japonica from cuttings?  I tried taking some last year, but without success.  Very disappointed.  I'd really appreciate some information on the subject.

alterrnative to fruit tree banding

Hello everyone

I have a very big, old apple tree which I have pruned into shape so that the fruit is more easier to reach.  However, I think it also needs some sort of coverage round the base trunk to stop insects climbing up during the winter.  Banding doesn't get into the recesses of the bark.  Is there a cheap alternative of a wash of some sort I can buy or make to do the trick?  Ideas much appreciated

Many thanks
