fuschia cuttings

Posted: 07/06/2013 at 19:59

Hello folks

Anyone heard of the bush fuschia "Delta's Sarah"?  My question is:- Is it a hardy type of fuschia?  It has purple & white flowers.  I've just bought one and have taken some cuttings from it, hoping to make it a permanent feature around the garden.  All answers much appreciated.   Thanks.

Many thanks tattianna & verdun for the information.  I'm off out into the garden right now to take some osteospermum cuttings.  I have tried previously - but without success!  Hopefully this time it will work.  Thanks again  nikki7

Hello all

I'd like to increase my osteospermum plants and want to take cuttings.  When is best to take them?  And do I cut below a leaf node or pull off non-flowering shoots with a heel?  Finally, will I get better results by covering cuttings with a plastic bag - or not?  Many thanks for any help on this topic.   Nikki 7

Compost heaps and rats

I found that the compost heap on my allotment plot had rats in throughout the winter.  I think they possibly tunnelled in to keep warm in the decaying contents.  They didn't bother me - but good luck to you getting rid of them, as they are in your garden and close to the house.

There are no suckers coming from the lilac tree Alina.   And if cuttings won't come true to the original, I think I'll not try to take any, Gold1locks.  But many thanks for the feedback anyway.

My neighbour has a lovely deep purple lilac tree and has said I may take some cuttings.  Would I be successful in growing it from cuttings?  If yes, how & when should I take them?  Answers and any information appreciated.  Thanks

Hello one & all

My question is :-  Can I grow primula denticulata (drumstick primula) from seed?  And if so, how & when?  I've recently joined this site and really enjoy reading the exchanges of info on various aspects of gardening. Thanks for any helpful advice on this matter.
