whats the difference between loganberry and tayberry.

This is getting complicated

I am picking of one plant now and the other is only lookiing like it may flower so by pansy face I am picking the tayberry.

but

The berries are very large and only sweet when black/red in colour so by garden maiden I am picking Loganberrys .

Lesson do not stick the pot with the paper label next to the plant to mark what it is . Right a proper label.

Still very confused ?

What have you learnt this year in the garden?

Wow how many of us are turning into homicidal maniacs this year, slugs are really testing so many peoples will to not use pellets.

Zig zag if sowing direct it might not be your sowing but the slime monsters thats caused what seems like a lack of germination.

Pots or Trough

Indoor winter chillis do not require much attention i believe at least mine didnt.

Just trim back and do not over water in fact hardly any water.

Beechgrove garden on TV over wintered some in a greenhouse and did not have much success from memory.

My kitchen overwintered plants were really slow growers and are much better this year than last year.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way that is working to get rid of my infestation is to stalk the nasty slime ridden monsters and kill them off.

I have been picking whole handful's of individual lettuces, its vial but the most vial thing is coming indoors and having to wash off the slime.

I use salt and washing up liquid followed by a sponge scourer. Has anybody got a better way to dissolve and wash off the slime?

Pots or Trough

I have lots of concrete thats ugly and I have pots and tubs and lots of raised beds. the best is the herb bed made from two scaffold boards it has 11 sorts of herbs in was 12 sorts but replaced the tall pot of mint in the centre with a tall bird bath.

In the other beds and pots have lettuces, tomatoes, various salad leaves, aubergines, courgettes, cucumbers, chillis which i bring in over winter, peppers and a few flowers.

Only thing I would say is checking underneath for slugs and snails takes forever and is very important.

Tomato trouble

Summer of 76 was 5 cant really remember anything except playing in the garden with the dog and lots of water he loved that.

Not sure if i would like a summer that hot as I am not a warm weather person but it would be fun to try and make my own sun dried tomatoes.
