This one greets me every morning.

I tried this and the cutting could be fine but once the plant grows you will still have the problem when it starts to flower, believe me I tried everything but in the end I had to give in to it and burn the plants. I really do sympathise with you it hurts to lose plants that you have had for years.

Here is a map showing its progress

Sorry to bring you bad news, but I have just had to bin about 30 of mine, they will not recover what ever you do,I think in time this will be the death of certain Fuchsias as there is no cure and by keeping the ones infected it will spread to others. I found a few that it did not seem to affect but not many. This mite at the moment is only affecting plants in the south but is slowly moving north. My hobby has been growing Fuchsias for the past 40 years but sadly nearly all my stock has been affected. These mites are invisible to the naked eye so as Borderline says make sure you clean anything that has come in contact with them.

Strictly is back!

Horse Manure

I was told that if the horses had been eating clover this would then grow from the manure.

Is it the end of Fuchsia?

Thanks Borderline, After so many years of growing them it has been devastating to have them all wiped out, I sympathise with anyone who gets this horrible mite.

Guernsey Donkey2  Sorry to give you bad news but I am in touch with someone who is tracking it and it has been reported in Guernsey and Jersey. It is a parasite and is invisible to the naked eye as it is so small. sorry to disagree Borderline but I have tried stripping them and cutting back but it has appeared on any new growth.

It seems it can be carried in the air so where it is now quite widespread in the south of England anyone is likely to get it.I would suspect that not many Fuchsias are imported from the states so I would think it came originally from Europe.

I have just had to burn over 30 Fuchsias due to having gall mite, It has been my hobby for over 40 years and sadly I wont grow them again as there is no known cure for it. I live in the east and it is quickly spreading north (see map) I wonder if they will eventually die out as it is now getting out of control,it has been in the USA for many years now and still no cure has been found.
