Fast growing evergreen shrub

Its in a sheltered corner, I have had to remove a rather large conifer that was hiding my water butts so I need something to replace it.

This year so far I have seen more bees than any other year I can remember,lets hope they are on the increase and making a comeback.

Cant beat Jacks Magic from homebase,the best compost I have ever bought. A bit dearer than others but well worth it.

Thanks figetbones, yes the brown bits do brush off and there is a bit of green underneath.I have 2 of these and I trimmed them about 6 weeks ago but the other one isnt affected ( see photo ) so I thought this one might have some kind of decease.
