No compost reviews at B&Q

Posted: 18/01/2014 at 12:45

After buying their rubbish Verve compost last year at B&Q I thought I would take a look to see if they are still selling it. Surprise surprise they are not showing any reviews on their site for compost. Is it any wonder, after gardening for over 50 years this is the worst compost I have ever seen, they should be ashamed for selling it.It was also voted the best compost by Which magazine.

I have very little knowledge of the subject but just wanted to say that it is so refreshing to see someone of your age with so much get up and go to improve his life instead of a lot of the youth today wanting something for nothing, good luck to you and I am sure you will succeed in life with your determination.

I cut all mine back by a third and strip all the leaves and flowers , if they are kept above 5 degrees they will start to shoot over winter.I do this every year with great success, in the spring there is plenty of growth to take new cuttings. Also you can start pinching out earlier giving you a much bigger plant.

Fuschias with very few flowers

Posted: 18/09/2013 at 15:43

I grow a lot of Fuchsias and have done for many years, but this year has been the worst that I can remember for lack of flowers,I think it may be because of the extreme heat we have suffered.I would leave your Fuchsia till next spring and when it shows signs of new growth cut it back to about 6 inches from the ground.

I grow lots of Fuchias and have done for years but this year is theworst I can remember for a lack of flowers. I do believe the reason is the extreme heat we have been suffering.I have fuchsias in full sun, some in full shade and some in partial shade and they have all suffered. The other thing is those that are flowering are about a month behind normal.Dont discard them as I am sure they will come again next year.
