Was the 'spread' even?

Too much in one spot can kill the grass so its best to use a 'shaker' and try to make sure you dont go over same area twice.

This was soluble so used a watering can.

Yes it does contain moss killer but I did not have any moss on my lawn, just wanted to green it up. Why would the healthy grass turn black?

I had some areas on my lawn that were slightly yellowing so I watered them with Evergreen complete soluble feed, they have now turned black. Is this normal? and what can I do to retrieve it.

Dealing with Fuschia Rust

I think you are fighting a losing battle, I would strip it of all the leaves and cut it back by about a third. This will encourage new growth but it will be to late for it to flower this year, put it in a shady spot and when you see new growth start to give it a weak feed .

I would cut each branch back to a strong node to encourage new growth, also dont put them in full sun, grow them on in light sun or partial shade.Feed them with a fertiliser with fairly high nitrogen content ie Miracle grow to encourage the new growth.Hope this helps.

Dare I say.
