 These 2 plants have overwintered and are still looking healthy,should I trim them back or leave them as they are ?

Last year Verve was voted the worst compost by Which, they advised not to buy it.

Wouldnt bother with seed compost always used multi purpose and never had a problem raising seeds.

Why buy seed compost? I have never used it, only use multi purpose and never had a failure.

Although the weather here in Essex has not been to bad during the day we have never experienced so many frosts of a night. For the past month we have had a frost nearly every night. Has it been as bad over the country or just the south east?

Yes bury them up to the first leaves and make sure they get plenty of light to stop them getting leggy again.
