Fuchsia plants

Posted: 06/11/2015 at 13:47

There are not that many hardy ones so I would get them in the greenhouse if possible.

Trim any long roots a bit, remove any flowers and leaves and cut back the plant by about a third. If you can keep them above 5 degrees they will put on some growth over winter giving you a good start for next year.

I also cut mine back by a third, if you can keep them above 5 degrees they will put on growth during the winter and give you an early start next year especially for cuttings.

Is it too late to sow Gaillardia now to flower next year ? or is it best to buy plug plants and overwinter them in the greenhouse.

I cut mine down to about 3 feet after the leaves drop and it stills grows to about 10 feet the next year.
