Talkback: How to grow lupins

I've grown some from seed this year, do I need to pinch the plants out as they look a bit spindly they have 2-3 pairs of leaves, sadly some have been munched by slugs when I put them outside while we were away last week so just have stems with no leaves on some of my seedlings, will they grow back or should I discard these ones.  would appreciate your comments.

thanks for that, I will tidy them up, they looked stunning just a shame I won't get any more flowers this year, hopefully they will multiply next year and I'll have a few more.

Perennials not growing

my echinacea purpurea pink double delight are only just showing and one not at all, it says they flower in July - Sept so they are going to have to go some to be flowering by then as I just have a few leaves, I only planted them sept last year, but they too said hardy on them and had 3 so sad to have lost one already and not sure if the other 2 will come to anything, really disappointed as I paid a lot of money for them.  Any suggestions???

thanks for all your replies, just need to get my hands on some hazle, in figrats link it looks very simple but I'm sure mine would not end up looking so natural, would probably have to resort to double sided sticky tape!!

watching Chelsea last week in the laurent perrier garden they had the most gorgeous roses growing in mounds through a framework of hazle, I've never seen anything like this before but it was fantastic way of training roses as it gave some height and structure to the garden but in a natural way, they looked amazing I would love to get some any ideas where from????????
