Talkback: Lawns and wildlife

I have close cropped lawn to approx 50%, long grass to 10%, wildflower meadow to aaprox 20% and nectar rich borders to 20%. In the longer grass I have Bladder Campion and Birds Foot Trefoil. In essence an area for everyone in my small garden and I hope lends itself to happy wildlife.

Talkback: Big Butterfly Count

I have a garden packed to the rafters of nectar rich flowers and sadly no sight of butterflies but thankfully, more bees this year and happily nesting Mason Bees!

Wildlife Ponds

I have a small antique bath that I have sited against a wall and in full sun. Filled with a couple of marginal (which need annual replacement) and some oxygenating plants plus steps to enable the frogs to access. Unfortunately, the frog popluation has been wiped out so am not sure if this benefits the wildlife in my garden. However, it looks nice.

Absence of Frogs

Mine have been dessimated by disease which sadly, there is nothing that can be done to eradicate.

Talkback: How to sow seeds indoors

This is my first year for propagating wildflower seed using both pots/trays. Unfortunately, on most occasions there has either been no life or minimal life that has subsequently dies after only a very very short period of time.
Each time, the pots/trays have been placed in the conseervatory and I can only assume that it is simply too hot in here!
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
