how to plant

Posted: 28/05/2012 at 18:22

Hi i hope i have done this right for the gunnera manicate.

I have dug a hole twice the size of the pot it is in, the clay at the bottom of the hole i have broken up a little then put a layer of manure in the hole followed by some top soil mixed with more manure.

Then i filled the hole with water.

Next maybe tomorrow i plan on puting compost and the plant in the hole with the top of the plant pot soil being level with the new hole and bedding in and more manure on top plus tons of water.

Would this be okay?

Thanks

Planting out

Posted: 26/05/2012 at 11:58

Hi i want to plant out two tree saps about three feet tall and my gunnera manicate but a freind says it is too hot and they will burn ion this heat.

I was thinking of planting them out in the evening when the heat is lower and put tons of water on them and manure in the hole with compost too.

also moving some other shrubs form one part of the garden to another part.

Ideas please Thank you

Does the plant need shelter or can it be a little exposed to the wind?

Does the plant need proctectinmg from the wind?

Can it go to one edge of the garden where there is a fence on one side  about 6 feet away from the plant

or does it have to be  where it is proctected on three sides with the same distance away from the fence and the house and green house?

I do hope this makes sense

Also it says you can split it how do i know when it is ready to be split?

Thank you
