What is your kind of garden?

Posted: 10/07/2012 at 18:55

Hello Nola, Perhaps if we all wish together it might just stop raining. I,ve become a  sprinter instead of my prefered mode of peacefully pottering. Good for the waist line but not the temperament.

Hello G Grandma, it,s sheltered but i think you may have a point about the water. It seems to rain every day now. I managed an hour in garden before more fell. Thanks for reply.

Hi Rosa Rugosa, sorry i didn,t get back to you. However the replies you,ve received tell you all asked. I,m battling snails who are decimating my dahlias. It seems Pests 10 Gardeners nil this year! I like a challenge but really. Wellies in July.......

I,ve used cooking oil and it does work. It forms a film over the top.It won,t harm your plants because the oil is plant based. And you don,t need oodles either. It.s certainly been the year for the moscito

Has anyone had  similar or know of a reason why my Daphne Odora Aureomarginata has started to die back. It looks like wilt and has entirely dropped it,s leaves on one plant and is doing the same branch by branch on my mature shrub. The leaves lose shine and appear limp, then droop and drop.

Poly pests

Hello Kate, Thanks for reply. The polys are outside and the offending beasts are colourless. I,ve suffered from whitefly in the greenhouse and would be able to identify them, but  these seem to spring/hop away, returning later. I see they are also in a  sheltered bed at the back. The bed and pots are very dry and i wonder if this has any bearing.
