Talkback: Growing vegetables on terraces

Thanks for the interesting read! I have made 2 raised beds using wooden boxes from a builders yard. The squashes will be growing out of them and should look pretty with the fruits hanging out. Good luck with your garden and looking forward to Part 2,3 and 4. :0)

Lemon Tree

Posted: 08/04/2013 at 11:37

Hello Celia, I have 2 lemons and 1 orange tree. They are in my heated conservatory/ orangery and doing very well. They are covered in fruits and I have been using the fruits all Christmas and wiinter and now! They are sat on the sill facing south. If ever the Sun comes out then they get it as long as the sun is shining. I feed them every week and use (oops) tap water!. I am quite sure during winter the temperature has dropped below 5 degrees if not lower! I think South facing spot is the ideal situation if you have it. Sunshine is very important for the flowering and I think that is the only thing I am doing right

Talkback: Growing citrus plants

I have 2 lemon trees in smallish pots and they are covered in lemons. The flavour is out of this world and have used them all through the winter and now. Have just rescued an orange tree from  my local garden centre. Going to repot all of them in a pot next size up which is what Monty suggests. They are currently in my large Orangery/ conservatory and doing well even though we do not heat the conservatory 24/7. Wondering if I should leave them in their old pots until next year and just put some fresh compost on the top as Monty has shown. Thanks Monty, I have been following you since your This Morning days with Richard and Judy!!!
