In this weather and time of the year, adders multiply !

The primitive fear we have within, is born within, primaeval, before we came out of the swamp, even. It is a sort of species xenophobia and it is carried forward today by national xenophobia.  When I was a kid, ( and I WAS ) I always thought a xenophobia was a sort of musical instrument !

Hayle Towans ?  I used to see loads of adders out on Kenidjack and Cape Cornwall some years ago. There was a small lizard being held by the head by an adder, and as it tried to extricate itself, the adder was dragged along, and so a tug of war ensued for about an hour.  The bite of an adder is negligable, and the mouth is so small it can possibly only get you by the little finger, with serpents luck. The actual effect is seldom moe than the sting of a pissed off wasp. I dislike spiders because I was bitten by one last May, out near Zennor.  Much safer back here in Northumberland, tho' I do miss Kernow.

Too true Blue. Can't bear the stuff ! Has the same effect as Newcastle Brown, up north. What one might say is an 'AQUIRED TASTE'

My wife and I are off to the sunny climes of VB beer, Alice, Brisbane, Cairns and Cooktown in November.  We missed the fires in Vic a few years back, but stayed in Marysville. Beautiful spot.

I am getting disturbed by this latest public blether about GM seeds.Whether they are a good thing or a BAD thing, is almost irrelevant. It is never in open discussion that is it morally right for a single firm/corporation/industry to have sole proprietory rights to any seed, and be able to hold the WORLD to ransom.

Monsanto are huge, and still they jealously protect their rights to their GM seeds, proclaiming that they are doing the world a servce, and at the same time being able to charge what they like, to the poorest of countries that perhaps NEED that kind of seed for their very lives.

Monsanto, are much in the news these days, with mostly bad press. I wonder why !  It is definitely not for their benevolence or altruistic deeds.

None but the brave deserve the fair. and fair ground corks OR wine corks, are fine, providing you can keep the cat still enough to insert them into the buggers !
