Does anyone know the steeped garlic recipe? Something like steep a garlic bulb in a pint of boiling water till cold, use 1 teaspoon in a gallon of water. Told to me by a plantswoman selling plants at Arabella Lennox-Boyd's garden in the Tough of Bowland. You have to pour some over the plant . Haven't tried it yet, but she swears by it. Haven't seen it there for a while, Ann, perhaps if people ask for it they'll do it again. You can buy rose hip syrup there though, yummy on rice pudding.

Kate, try beet root salad, raw grated beetroot, vinaigrette and orange juice dressing. Not sure of quantities, but they used to make at Lower Sizergh Barn near Kendal, delicious.

We have frogs but no pond! Probably because we have stone walls, a garden jam packed with plants and fields behind us. Oh yes, and lots of damp weather in the Pennines. Thousands of slugs and snails, acrobatic and voracious.

I have a plant which looks similar, but has multiple stems, I wonder if it's the same. I bought it in a garden centre, but have lost the label. I'll post a photo tomorrow.

Inkadog, I love the colour of that fence, what is it? No flowers on my crocosmia Lucifer yet, we're about 2 weeks behind up here, at 1000ft on the Lancs/Yorks border

Welcome Sue, I'm fairly new too and agree about the banter. Definitely agree about gardening therapy, keeps me sane and reduces the stress levels.

Reclaimed the garden steps from the alchemilla and geraniums. Cut back the heuchera and oriental poppy - space for more plants now! Nice day in Rossendale, just got in before the downpour starts.
