Visited RHS Harlow Carr today, too wet to garden at home. Can't make up my mind what I like best - prairie planting, roses, veg garden, candelabra primulas, wild flowers ...... Yes, I can, the alpine house ..... And oh yes, tea and cakes at Betty's! If I knew how to add a smiley face I would

Phygelus spreading like mad, the creeping potentilla has now invaded my next door neighbour's garden and has created a curtain down a retaining wall. I have another which I can't remember the name of, soft green leaves, very pale lilac flowers and a nice scent, but with very deep roots and new plants popping up all over the place. Dug over the whole bed last year, but still haven't got rid of it. I just pull them out now whenever I see them. Not in flower yet, but prett when it is.

Pruning Cotoneaster Horizontalis

I have recently cut mine back to stop it taking over. It never seems to do any harm, and I tend to chop it back on a regular basis. Still get lots of flowers which the insects love and berries later on.

Love that owl. Snails eating my clematis flowers, they are like mountaineers around here, climbed all the way through the white hydrangea to get to them.

I have one of the bright green ones with tiny pale pink flowers in full sun and it's quite large now, likes spreading its seeds around too. Just looked at heucheraholics site didn't realise there were so many. I still like the old fashioned ones best though.

Sprained ankle, can't get up the garden today, think I'll hobble around the garden centre. Looking for prunella, lost mine over winter.

Love your slugs and snails, they have a job to do too! Having said that they are just munching their way through my new dianthus.........
