Multipurpose peat free compost

Posted: 25/04/2014 at 19:53

What can be causing my compost to have this green algae to form i have been carefull with the watering, in some cases seeds have failed to germinate it is all bought in compost I have used the same sort other years without any problems.

I have used it for all types of seed sown in the greenhouse ventilated well when it gets warm.

I grew Crook neck courgettes this year not that impressed to many seeds  inside, I much rather grow Tromboncio courgetts they will last right up to new year if you let them ripen like squashes and pumpkins.

I will/I won't grow that again

I have used my own compost in parts of my garden and found that tomato seeds that have been put in the compost bin have germinated and have produced a better crop out side than the ones I have purchased from garden centres and grown in the greenhouse. So I am going to save some seeds from my tomatoes in future I have also found it works well with peppers.

This year my beans don't seemed to have alot of flower what beans have formed are very long and straight though I think its to do with the very hot and dry weather we have had.

Onions

I am afraid mine are the same this year I think its due to the very high winds we have been having this year it seemed to have loosened the roots so they are not developing like they should.
