Kohl Rabi cropping

They look to be the right size you can eat them cooked or roar with other salad stuff, just remember they come from the same family as cabbages and such like so don't plant any of that family in the same place because you could get club root. Regards Pete

Daffodils And Tulips

Posted: 21/04/2017 at 19:35

Some of our daffodils have only produced half an head it just looks like you have gone along and cut the flower in half, some tulips are the same, what can be causing this is it in the bulbs. We bought them at the same time planted at the same in November some we put in pots and some in the flower beds and they have turned out the same. Regards Peter.

Grayish Blemish Potatoes

Posted: 27/01/2017 at 19:42

I recently purchased a bag of Estima  potatoes from a super market, they looked very clean with no marks or blemishes on them but soon as they have been peeled  you find grayish marks on them which go fairly deep you have cut them out before cooking because they look unsightly if you didn't,when they have been cooked they often turned black what is causing this,I have used other varieties without any problems.

P S sometimes you often have to cut away at least a third of the potatoes, also I have had it happen before with some other main crop potatoes.

What to do now....

Hi Sarah.

The blackcurrant bushes need pruning just after they have fruited for best results, you prune the old fruiting branches out to let the new ones develop which will then produce the fruit for next year. You always want the branches to come from has near to the base of the plant,in fact it doesn't matter if they come from soil level or just below the soil,I was alway told to prune in the first year down to around 6" from the ground to encourage the bush to produce a better frame work.
