ROUND UP GEL

Posted: 16/09/2013 at 16:55
Posted this in the wrong spot i.e. Talkback; so here it is again!

Bindweed from a neighbouring garden has wrapped itself around my pampas grass - I've tried pulling the weed out but its difficult and very unkind to hands and takes forever; my vocabulary has however benefitted from the exercise.   Is Round up gel a good option?   I've not used Round up in any form and would appreciate your advice.

Many thanks,

Thank you both for your replies - I feel better now!  The rose was chosen for its colour and fragrance both of which have lived up to expectations.  I shall continue with plenty of TLC and hope for improvement.  Thanks again.

I planted this new rose in December - it seems healthy enough and has produced several blooms, but they are drooping.  Does anyone know if this is normal for the variety or should I be taking action?  I'm making sure it gets well fed and watered.  Your advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Thank you again, Lyon Greene. Have loads of Growmore so will include some with the compost - as far as moving the container is concerned, know a man with a sack truck!

I appreciate your help with my first attempt at growing these elegant flowers.

Lyon Greene - thank you so much for your reply and for the photos; I'll go ahead with the planting, do you recommend feed of any sort to be added to the compost? The pot will be placed in full sun during the growing season and can be moved under cover during the colder months (don't have a greenhouse but have shed/garage)?

Thanks once again.

I've been given 3 bulbs and would iike to grow them in a pot 16in dia.- will the pot take all three?  I have no instructions on planting depth/distance apart.  Can I leave them in the pot from year to year?   Your advice, please

Many thanks

Verdun - thanks for your reply.   The tree looks pretty healthy at the moment, I'll take your advice and remove any dead shoots to maintain the shape.

Thanks again.

Pots and compost ready for the roses - thank you all once again .

Rose lady, thank you  - the roses were chosen for specific places in the garden so they'll be planted out when the time comes.  If I'm successful with these two then perhaps I'll try more........

Even with my limited knowledge, I thought keeping them in water was strange advice which is why I asked the experts!   I do have some large flowerpots both plastic and clay which would accommodate these roses and will visit the garden centre for some suitable compost.  They can live in a sheltered spot at the rear of the garage until I can get them planted.

Thank you all very much.
