CAMELLIA 'ELEGANS'

Thank you both for your replies - I have never pruned the plant; it is kept in a sheltered position at the side of the house over the winter and moved onto the patio when the flowers appear -  I have no means of collecting rainwater and until now have relied upon rainfall and topped up with tap water.

Thanks again.

I have this camellia in a large pot and it shows no sign of any flowers forming -  although the leaves look healthy enough.   Pic. will hopefully give you an idea of both the size of the plant and its container - its in ericaceous compost.   Should I move it to a larger pot, feed it or just leave it alone?

Your advice, please,

Many thanks

I started this thread in 2012 and having taken the sound advice given, my Salix Flamingo is thriving, I took a picture this morning to show you but unfortunately I'm not able to upload it  - obviously doing something wrong!   Thanks as always for your help.

Another try at posting a photo - hope it works.  Had very little rain here so I give the tree a good soaking once a week and now need to give it a trim!  Thanks again

Thank you Edd and Dave - Epsom salts applied to both soil and leaves and I'll make sure they're watered on a weekly basis - I've been concentrating on a 'make-over' of my rear garden and so the front garden where the box trees live has had less attention than usual.

Thanks again,

Edd -  thank you for your response, will do as you recommend  - I've not previously used Epsom salts on any shrubs so unsure of how often I should apply and can I use a watering can and rose for the leaves or does it need a finer spray?

Many thanks.

I've allowed these trees ( in containers)  to dry out and now two of them have browning leaves, but the leaves do not seem to be dropping.  Watering has been increased - will Epsom salts help and if so should I water into soil or spray onto the leaves?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Thank you all for your replies - not visited the site for a few days so was not aware of your response (usually get an email??) .  The osmanthus is in place and being watered regularly - still not enough rain in this area.  I used some farmyard manure in bags from the garden centre and added some Levingtons compost left over from another project.    I think it looks OK , but perhaps the leaves are a little pale?

Thanks again for your help.

I'm about to plant this shrub - a large specimen supplied with a wrapped root ball and approx. 150cm tall.  The site will be against a fence, sheltered and quite sunny,   Any advice please on what to add to the planting hole  to help it along - I would normally use FBB but perhaps a specific root 'treatment' at this time of year would be in order?

Thank you.

Thank you for your replies. - the workmen dug out the root but I  saw it back into place and added feed and plenty of water - perhaps the root ball was not large enough?  Today the leaves are really dry and curling and I fear the worst.  I shall trim it back and see if that helps.  I'm in Berkshire and the garden is badly in need of rain - perhaps my watering regime has been insufficient.

It seems my question appeared twice and so I thank everyone who answered both 'threads'.
