Raised Bed on firm surface

Posted: 28/02/2014 at 10:41

I have a small garden that is entirely brick paved and am looking to place 3 raised beds for shallow rooting vegetables. The raised beds I have received come complete with liners for a hard surface.

These liners (19" depth") have no holes, surely they will need some putting in, and have gravel/crocks around them to prevent blockage.

I want to leave them in place from year to year, how best can I prolong the life of the compost I am using/how long before I have to replace it?

Any tips gratefully received

Identifying Plants, shrubs and trees in my new garden

Can anyone please help me to identify some of these plants, shrubs and trees in my new garden?

1 A & B The next two pictures are of a thick trunked tree/shrub seems to have been trained to bend over and run horizontally as a hedging. It has lush green waxy leaves like a laurel?

 The next is a tree (2 pictures 2a & 2b) I took as a cutting about 6 years ago

5, was sold this un-named as a ground cover plant, it has lovely silvered leaves and delicate little flowers

6, A small green hedge, not sure of type?

7 Finally a short grass which is turning a lovely gold colour, not pony tails though?

A big list I know but I so want to get to know my new garden and the plants I have brought to it. As you can no doubt tell i'm a learner. I want to get to know my plants and trees and read up on then but am struggling to confirm what they are.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Can someone please tell me what this plant is?
