Frogspawn 2013

Here in mid Wales we have no frog spawn in our pond at all yet, last year it came in February so seems a bit late. Maybe the frogs are waiting for better weather!

Thanks for your answer, I thought I might give the seeds a try, it's no loss if nothing grows afterall. I just hope the plant doesn't die now.

I have been given a pot of golden bamboo by a friend who no longer wanted it. I notice that it is laden with seeds which I think is quite unusual, and was wondering if it would grow. Does anyone think it might be viable seed and if so what is the best way to sow it? has anyone had any success growing from seed?

Not all bad news in the garden

My sweet peas are not happy either nor is my phlox, both refusing to flower. On the other hand the donicums that should of finished flowering ages ago are still going strong and the candelabra primulas are still giving a stunning show - I put it down to the damp, cool weather we have had so I agree its not all bad.

Thanks for the ideas, I think the Alan Titchmarsh thing sounds about what I want so will give it a try. I think i've seen somewhere that you can put the turf on double and then plant against it, I guess then the roots hold the soil from dropping in the pond as it decomposes- Not sure if it would work tho.

I was wondering what sort of edging would be on the GW pond as I would like to put turf around my concrete pond but cant find how to do it in any books, has anyone done this and could give me some tips?
