How best to plant my Astilbes in sandy soil

Thank you.  I will and will also put them near my geraniums that cover the soil so hopefully they will help keep the soil damp.

How best to plant my Astilbes in sandy soil

I brought 3 Astilbes today, the info tag on one states sun or part shade, the other 2 show full sun.  None of the tags said there was a problem with sandy soil.  However, when I checked my Flower Expert book it states that if you have sandy soil forget it!  My soil is sandy but we have added to it over the years and I don't have problems growing most plants.  Can anyone please tell me how best to plant these to give them a chance of growing in our soil.

Pretty yes - but it really took over, covered all the other plants. I brought a packet of mixed flower seeds and it must have been in there.  Will watch what I buy next time.

Brilliant! Assume that means the roots will not regrow?

Fumitory problems

I have just pulled out a large amount of fumitory that had run riot over one of my borders.  Although I tried to get the roots out some were too deep and the plants broke off mid root. I want to get rid of it all but guess it will reappear if some roots are still in the soil.  Has anyone any idea of how best to ensure this weed does not regrow?

Does anyone know what these two plants are?

Yes, it really is tall, easily 4ft maybe more.  I'm 5ft 3 and it reaches my neck. It reproduces through the roots producing offshoots.  Does that help at all?

The mauve plant grows to about 4 ft high.  The pink plant is quite low growing but very invasive.  Does anyone have any ideas what either of them are please?
