HELLO FORKERS!

Happy New Year again,

Only John and I were awake this morning when I looked in earlier.

Will do the flower count later. (It won't take long)

I've foolishly ordered 25 hedging roses, rosa rugosa. They are due to arrive Saturday. Perhaps if I send my private helicopter Verdun will give me a hand.

Step 10 in the planting instructions says, 'finish filling the planting hole with soil and any soil left over use to make a temporary berm above the perimiter of the roots'. What's a berm? Google didn't come up with an answer. I can only assume its a circular ridge of soil.

I've also ordered mycorrhizal fungus to use in the planting. It was recommended to use this but has anyone used it and found it made a difference?

Happy New Year everyone and happy gardening in 2014.

The rain and wind woke me up. Beautilful day yesterday but back to gales today.

Glad your op went well, John and hope you'll soon be home. A friend had a similar operation and within weeks was able to walk miles ocross Dartmoor pain free.

So good to hear good news, Dove. Hope she's okay but will buck up when she gets back to her puppies.

Good orning everyone.

It certainly is rough out there. We've had a bit of excitment already. my son lives next door and he came round to say he'd just put his gardening gloves on and was stung by something inside them. He'd found one of those spiders in the same area a week or ago. (He took a photo at the time and it did look like one of those false widows) So he was a bit concerned but we now think it was a wasp as his arm hasn't fallen off yet   Just as he was talking to me there was a huge crash and my chimney cowl came down. A few seconds earlier it would have hit him.

He was putting his gardening gloves on, not to garden, he's not that keen but to help some neighbours whose tree had fallen down.  He said  after the morning he'd had so far it didn't bode well using the chain saw but luckly we are back hoe wet but safe and sound.  He and his faily are going away today to Center Park for Christmas so hopefully nothing else will go wrong.

Love the reindeers especially Zorrudolph.

The birds scoffed all the holly berries round here weeks ago.  They never leave me a share.

Good morning all. I hope everyone is well and coping with the countdown to the big day.

this is my grand daughter this morning. Doesn't Storm look thrillled with his Cristmas look? Amost as excited as pictures of dogs wearing antlers.

Merry Christmas
