The Mayans could predict eclipses. Could they be right about December 21st?

Should be have Christmas early just in case?

Good morning forkers,

Hope everyone is okay. Thank you for your kind thoughts about my chicken. I haven't had any problems with foxes since the spring when they are desperate to feed their babies. They've had plenty of rabbits all summer but not too many of them now as the poor things have been struck by mxyomatosis again.

I watched 'Return to Forgotted Britain' last night. It was about two farming families, one in Cornwall and one in Wales. They worked so hard and still couldn't make a living. especially the dairy farmers in Cornwall.  The dairy farmers had a suspected TB case so couldn't sell any calves and couldn't afford to feed them. I think the only winners are the supermarkets as food prices are going up all the time.

The sun came out briefly this morning but gone really dark again now.

I've never grown Kale, Bjay, but might give it a go next year. Well done with the sprouts and potatoes.

My son had an electric chicken fence and one morning when my young grandson went to feed the chickens he found they were all dead inside the chicken house. My DIL discovered a badger still inside the chicken coop. It was one with a removable floor for cleaning and the badger had gone through the electric fence and dug under the chicken house but been unable to find it's way out again. They gave up on chickens after that. I don't think I'll get any more when these ones go as the fox always seems to win in the end.

Hope the renovations are going well, Jo. I'm with you. I hate throwing things away. The sheds are full of  stuff . Was the play sand from when your daughter was little.

Cornwall has really been battered and flooded and more rain to come this afternoon and the wind is getting up now. I feel really sorry for those whose homes are flooded.

My only damage was the big photinia and I spent Friday  clearing it away. I sawed the trunk about a foot from the bottom which was about 9 inches diameter. I hope it regenerates but if not it's a chance to clear out that bit of border and have something different.

Good morning all,

Late for registration again. I hope we have a good summer so you can enjoy your car, Dove.

Chickens were going frantic and I rushed out to see a fox had one. The fox ran off but the poor chicken died after about ten minutes. I didn't think the fox could get in the field but I was wrong. It came back a few minutes ago and I watched it for a while but it didn't come in. Hopefully I've mended the gap where it got in.

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is okay and not too much damage.

Just come in for a coffee after cutting my fallen photinia up. Not finished it all yet but will try and clear it all later. I don't know if it will regenerate as I had to cut it off about a foot from the bottom and the trunk is about 9 inches across. I should have kept it pruned as it was too big and too near the house. Why do I never realise that little trees and shrubs are eventually going to be big?

Good morning all,

Hope everyone is okay after the storm. Not too bad here today so I'm going to start clearing the photinia that blew over yesterday. It was over 15 feet high and really bushy so might take some time. I'm hoping I can firm the stump in again and it won't die but on gooling info on it it's the wrong time to prune it so just keep my fingers crossed.

Speak to you all later. I may be gone some time.
