That is where the chickens live and they are put in at night. There are areas where they have made dust baths. The grass is greener where they are than in the rest of the garden. It must be the chicken poo. I agree with FloBear, Khan thinks the same as Maisie. I let them roam in the garden in the winter when they can't do much harm and I haven't had many slugs and snails in spite of the weather.

Geoff, samphire is a plant that grows on sea cliffs, but I've never tried it. I've never seen it for sale anywhere.

Here's a photo of my chickens with their husband. (In his last life he was told he'd come back and have 11 wives so he's quite happy)

You'd don't need a cockeral Becks. that's when you will have a lot of noise. Mine can start before it gets light sometimes, but I like him and he really looks after his girls.

The biggest problem I have is foxes and I would have lost a lot more if it hadn't been for my dog.

Get some ear plugs and encourage Jess. She might turn out to be famous.

Geoff, do they still have the walking races? I could just see you being good at that, especially if you could wear your speedos. But I must admit it looks harder than running.

Is that a Linford Christie tomato, Dean?

Hi I think it's definitely an earwig as Geoff says. They nibble dahlias but I don't know about strawberries.

My chickens were making a bit of fuss earlier so the dog and I had a walk round the fields to see if foxy loxy was about. I couldn't believe how many ripe blackberries there were so went back to get a container and have enough to make a blackberry sponge. They seem to get earlier every year.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Geoff kindly tried to explain how to upload photos through photobucket. I managed to do on the BBC site but not here. I'm useless with computors. So I was pleased when I was trying to place an advert and my file was too big, so after having a fiddle with the camera found I could make the photos smaller. Now I'll be boring you all to death with my photos.

Hope I've managed to upload a photo at last. I bought these begonias as plug plants but didn't expect them to do so well as they were tiny.

Hi Jean, sorry you're having a rough time at the moment. I think we worry more about our children when they are grown up than we ever did when they were still living at home. Things seem so much tougher now for them than we we were starting out in life.

I would be frightened to take my hands off the handle bars when I won a cycle race in case I fell off. Is that compulsory?
