I always plant Tegetus plants between my tomatoes in my greenhouse, they look quite nice, smell of fox when brushed against, but most of all for the last 3 years i have had NO white fly, bought some sticky strips and hung them, but no flies on them .before i always had clouds of white flie,

this year has been a bean disaster year for me aswell.i usualy get around 65 to 70 pounds of beans off my 23 vines, but with the very hot days the flowers have not set ,the plant drops its flowers when stressed, just like trees in very hot times when water is short. other hot years i have mist sprayed every evening on hot days to set the flowers,& stop them from dropping, but was away for 2 weeks, i had a timer to water a soaking hose in the trench every morning from my water buts, thats why we enjoy the challenging hobby of gardening, every year is different, the older you get the more you realise what you learnt in passed years does not always work in the pressent one.

I mentioned a while ago that my lovely clematis was dieing back from the bottom and asked for help ideas, as i, and everyone that answered my call, thought it was wilt.Although  i found no sign of dead stems infact they were green inside. this week we have a fresh flush of new leaves on all the stem that looked like it was dead, about 3 foot up the stems, so now we have seed heads at the top , coloured leaves from 3 foot to the top, and new green leaves at the base, don't you just love 2012 as a gardening year NOT..still i still have my loved clematis

Thanks for your thoughts, i had the same idea, and did the cut ,no discolour in stems, only good green inside the dead looking stems, so have to put it down to a wierd year of weather, and plants do not know which way to go.lets hope next year is better.thanks again.

I have a clematis growing on a frame, with deep red flowers about 3 inches across, all over it, it has been there for 6 / 7 years, always a good flower display, and grows to about 10 feet tall.this year it grew as usual, flowered, but this week has shown signs of dyeing from the base upwards, so far has reached 2 feet up, still flowering from 2 feet to the top growth, the shriveled up leaves at the base , I fed with clematis food at start of year, is there any hope? is it just this years problem, and will regrow next year? or is it a lost cause, help!
