Identifying Plant

I have looked at images of Hellebores Foetidus and their leaves are much thicker. The leaves of this plant are very thin!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any idea about what this plant is? There are quite a few in my flower bed, most of which I pulled out.

I am assuming it is a weed. The leaves are pretty but don't want to keep it if it is too vigorous.

Thank you

Sprouted potatoes

They were firm so I have planted them in bags. My only problem is do I cover the spouts fully? They are a foot long.  I am hoping that like Madpenguin, I might get a good result.

This year I am way behind with my planting. I dug out my King Edwards seed potatoes only to note that they have exploded from the package with long tendrils. It is an amazing sight but my question is can they be planted out? Don't laugh.

Busy Bee, I envy all that space you have and love your beds.

Bought a potatoe collection which included four lots of first, second and main crop potatoes. I chitted one lot of earlies while the others sat in a cupboard.

Just noticed that all of the potatoes in the cupboard have sprouted. That is 24 seed potatoes in all. Not sure what I will do with so many apart from give them away.

Raised veg beds - how to build?

Hi Melanie, just last week I made a raised bed from scaffolding boards available free at Epping forest in east London, through free cycle You can pick up a lot of wood free if it is not too far for you. I made another from pallets also picked up free from some builders. Just don't use wood that has been treated with chemicals if you are planning to  grow organic vegetables.

I didn't bother lining the larger bed _just dug over and topped with compost and fertiliser. Stakes in the corners will be useful, like Busy Bee suggested, to put up netting or cloches.

Stagnant rain water

Thank you all very much.

I can dig the trench fairly deep and the water just gets displaced. The hole is lower than the garden and I too suspect that water is draining off the garden into the hole.

I could try backfilling  with the soil that came out of the hole, add grit/compost and plant up some flowers and see what happens.

Jim, I  did have trouble uploading my pic. Smaller pixels in future.
