Talkback: New tortoiseshell butterflies

Posted: 20/06/2014 at 14:02
How lucky you are to have butterflies, I have 2 buddliea trees in full flower and not a butterfly to be seen I haven't seen any at all in my garden for months. Last year I had hundreds on my buddliea this year none. I have had only 1 bee on them as well. Does anyone know whats happened to them? Even my friends as far as Fleetwood have had none at all. I am so disappointed.

Advice please

Hi everyone, my next door neighbour have removed the garage they had in their garden and have put up a 5ft fence, now they can see into my garden and I want to plant shrubs that will grow about 6/7ft. They will be in full sun but also the wind when weather not good. They must be bird friendly so the birds can nest in them and low maintenance as I am 71 and disabled so would not be able to cut them down.  I need about 4/5 depending on the spread. Can anyone suggest what are the best ones to plant when to plant them and where I can buy them from.

Cheers ragdoll

Hi everyone, Above is the wildflower plant that grows in my front garden every year haven't a clue what it is but the Ladybirds just love them and breed on them every year.  Don't go buying Ladybirds or their lava just get some of these.  Hope these pictures are better than the one's I downloaded last night.  One of my lava hatched this morning and it is a Harlequin ladybird the first one I have had this year. Can anyone tell me what this wildflower is please x
